Designed for trusted advisors like you
Our farming community needs advisors and educators who can spot legal risk and direct farmers to proactive solutions. Become that person! Get the training, resources, and contacts you need through Guiding Connecticut and Rhode Island Farmers to Legal Resilience.
After our day-long workshop, agriculture educators, advisors, and professionals will know:
- The 10 most significant farm legal risks across business structures, liability/insurance, land matters, employment law, and diversification.
- The 10 things you can do to assist farmers in reducing those risks, safely and quickly.
We make farm law fun, useful, and relevant
Guiding Connecticut and Rhode Island Farmers to Legal Resilience is a day-long workshop that is full of interaction and networking. No legal lingo here; we use real-life stories and simple, concise explanations of what matters and why. This program is designed exclusively for Extension agents, farm educators, nonprofit leaders, government employees, and farm financing professionals.
Get the knowledge and resources to address questions like:
- Should I form an LLC or an S corporation for my farm?
- Will I be liable if someone is injured on my farm?
- Should I issue 1099s to “casual” or short-term farm employees?
Delivered by expert educators
This program is created and taught by Farm Commons, a nonprofit organization devoted exclusively to farm law education for farmers and agriculture professionals nationwide. Each workshop is carefully researched and written for the state in which we are presenting.
But, don’t take our word for it
