In a Farm Commons survey of 86 respondents conducted in fall 2018, 94% of agricultural service providers responded that farm business law questions come up in their interactions with farmer clients. In the same survey, agricultural service providers responded that while they want to be able to guide farm clients towards answers, they can’t because they don’t know what the client should do, are afraid of giving the wrong advice, and worried about overstepping their bounds.
We have a solution!
Our 4-part Guiding Farmers to Legal Resilience webinar series covers 4 core legal subject areas, including business structures, land purchasing and leasing, insurance and liability, and employment law. We explain the core “action steps” or legal best management practices that advisors should recommend to help farmers reduce risk.
You’ll learn how to spot common and significant legal issues, and how to direct farm clients to appropriate next steps. A print guide will also provide participants with a resource to return to, as well as information that's easily shareable with farmers as needed.
(Note: This workshop does not train participants to become legal experts or give legal counsel. Rather, it trains them to identify where a legal issue is occurring, to offer basic legal background on the subject, and to direct the farmer towards appropriate resolution of the issue. This webinar is also NOT for farmers. We have several regional farmer workshops this winter.)
